Blackheath Halls
Blackheath Halls is south east London's premier music venue, situated in Blackheath Village on the borders of the London Boroughs of Greenwich and Lewisham. The are two venues: the Great Hall has a capacity of up to 1,000 and the Recital Room can hold up to 300. There is a licensed cafe bar that is also used as an exhibition space by local artists. Blackheath Halls promote between 250 and 300 public events each year, with rock and pop music, club nights, classical music, folk, world and jazz being featured alongside a developing art-house film, contemporary theatre and comedy programme. There is also an active and integrated community and education programme that works alongside the artistic programme. Artists appearing at the Halls in the 2002/03 season include: Maceo Parker, Emma Johnson, Courtney Pine, the Medici Quartet, Waterson: Carthy and the London Community Gospel Choir.
